Dave keeps active in the gym and runs in local road races. After becoming Regional Director for Alberta early in 2002, he has been busy trying to increase local awareness of organ and tissue donation, as well as planning fundraisers and social gatherings.

Dave recently became involved with a pre-transplant teaching group at the University of Alberta Hospital, which helps patients going on the waiting list understand what they are about to go through, and to let them know that they can pursue a healthy and active lifestyle after a transplant. Dave traveled to Nancy, France and participated in the 2003 World Transplant Games and met up again with all his transplant buddies.

Amy was diagnosed with end stage renal failure in January 1994, when she was only 21 years old. She received a kidney from her mother Diane Holdorf on July 28, 1994. Since then Amy has been very active in the United States and in Canada speaking with community and professional groups about kidney failure and transplantation awareness. Amy had never considered herself as an athlete until she attended the 1998 US Transplant Games and won four medals! Amy is still a very active participant US, Canadian, and World Transplant Games. She captains the CTA-sponsored dragon boat team based in Toronto, and is an avid runner, swimmer, and cyclist.

Amy has a doctorate in immunology and works as a research scientist studying mouse models of leukemia and lymphoma at Mount Sinai Hospital in downtown Toronto. Jennifer Holman - Alberta Regional Director

Email: jenniferholman (@ ) txworks.ca

Jennifer has been a Physical Therapist at the University of Alberta Hospital since 1977 in a variety of specialties including cardiac surgery, intensive care, pediatrics and pulmonary medicine. She has been a Clinical Coordinator in Transplant Services since the first heart and lung transplants in 1985 and developed the program for liver transplants when added in 1989.

She has have been active with the CTA, Alberta Region for about ten years as Hospital Liaison. Her "self-appointed" role was to bring information from the executive to the recipients in the programs and to the staff. She feels it has turned out to been an extremely valuable role - it would have been very difficult for the Executive to disseminate information without someone "on the inside" to share announcements at rounds, put up posters, sell tickets and have close contact with transplant candidates and recipients (a captive audience).

As a Physical Therapist, she is able get to see first-hand the miraculous recovery possible following a transplant and I am privileged to be a part of that every day. She looks forward to many more years with both the University of Alberta Hospital and the CTA.
