My name is Amy Baxendale

My name is Amy Baxendale and just over a year ago my dad, Rowland, had a liver transplant. He was not able to wait for a cadaver so my Aunt Nancy, his sister, donated her liver. This was a very tough time in my life, as well as my entire family's life, but now that we are through the worst, things are finally looking positive! I just wanted to send in a poem I wrote about the entire experience.

I will be your life
As soon as Doctors told me, that I was not intact,
my pages began unfolding, faster then I could relax.

My options were not endless, although with each came strife,
I had to come to terms with, who would be my life?
At first I was a dreamer, thinking sure its on its way,
receiving my life token, how long could it really take?

But as the months went trickling by, no sign of undergoing knife,
I began to scarily question, who would be my life?
With no approaching organ, my time was running short,
this cannot be the end I said, I'm not ready to abort.

So it took the voyage needed, to get me back in stride,
I heard the voice I needed, saying I will be your life.
So hidden was the answer, I had needed for salvation,
a kind and loving sister was to chart my destination.
By giving her support to make the ultimate sacrifice,
My dear you are the one who has now become my life.
